Tomorrow is the beginning of week 36...oh that's right, only a few more weeks until little Miss Kitchen is here!!!  Tuesday is the beginning of weekly visits and because of the abnormal lab results earlier in the pregnancy (the possible Down Syndrome), we are going to have either a non-stress test or an ultrasound at every appointment from here on out.  We're of course hoping for at least one more ultrasound so we can see Gracie again ;)

Yesterday we went geocaching with my parents, little bro and sis, and another family from our church.  We met up with my other little bro and his wife and we all drove a bit longer to go to a place with a corn maze, fresh produce, pumpkin patch, make your own scarecrow, etc.  James and I both are exhausted from the day (especially the maze...took us an hour!!!), but it was absolutely wonderful!  A perfect day for sure.

Alrighty, gotta get going.  Just thought I'd send out a quick update while I had a bit of time/energy!

So today was the beginning of a very "medical" week for us.  But this was BY FAR the best way to start out the week!  Today was the 3d/4d ultrasound to check for Down Syndrome again.  It was just a little double check, and the doctor found nothing at all that looked like Downs.  The good news is that our insurance covers it because it was not "just for fun."  Good thing, because we got the bill for the last one, and it was $1060!!!!!  We only had to pay the $50 copay, so that was a huge blessing.

Anyway, here are some pictures of our little Gracie!!  I just love her little nose!  She had her hands in front of her face for most of the ultrasound, so these were the only two that we could get of her face.

The doctor also measured her at 3 pounds, 3 ounces, which means that she will more than likely be a "normal-sized" baby...yay!  She had the potential to be HUGE (James was almost 10 pounds when he was born, and I was not small), but the doctor said that she will probably be around the 7 pound mark when born.

Man, I am excited to meet this sweet lil baby!!

"Last" date

James and I also had our "last" date before the baby comes Wednesday night.  We went to the Melting Pot, a wonderful fondue restaurant.  It was the most expensive meal we've ever paid for, but we thought we'd go all out for such a special occasion!

We started out with a cheese fondue, which we dug into before thinking to take a picture.  We chose just plain cheddar (which also had a bit of white wine I think) because we thought it'd be easier on my stomach.  They brought it out with a few veggies, 2 different kinds of bread (rosemary focaccia and an amazing sweet kind of rye I think) and Granny Smith apples.  The apples were especially PHENOMENAL!!!

Next we had the main course.  We chose a vegetable broth for the fondue, and then were handed a big ol' plate of raw meat to cook in it!  The meats included honey dijon chicken, cedar plank salmon, filet mignon, shrimp, and pork tenderloin.  They also gave us 6, count them, SIX, different sauces to use with the meat, as well as more veggies (broccoli, potatoes, and mushrooms)

Though the meat was nice, it was nothing outstanding.  I think that we've been spoiled by my family in the meat department, so it's hard to really wow us!  The mushrooms and broccoli.....WOWIE!!!  So so yum.  Even James liked them best!

For dessert, we chose a Yin Yang chocolate fondue, which is a mix of white and dark chocolate.  Amazing!

"Dippers" for the chocolate fondue were strawberries, bananas, chocolate marshmallows, plain marshmallows, pound cake, brown, rice krispy treats, and cheeeeeeeeesecake.  That was my fave

So, needless to say, we had a wonderful "Farewell to Just the Two of Us."

One of the "big" things that happens in Reno in the fall is Great Reno Balloon Races (it even made it into Rachel Ray's magazine last year!).  My family has gone most, if not all, the years that we have lived here. This year, because we live in Reno and not Yerington (an hour and a half from Reno), we got to "sleep in" until 4:00.  James and I left our apartment at 4:30 with cinnamon rolls, orange juice, coffee, and cantaloupe in tow and met my parents, Jon and Karen (my brother and sister-in-law), and Alex and Darwin (my sister and brother) at Rancho San Rafael.  We trekked our way to our usual sitting spot and enjoyed the Dawn Patrol and some of the races, though it's hard to tell what is actually going on!

The thing that is really neat about the Reno balloon races is that, unlike the ones in New Mexico, you actually get to be right with the balloons as they are getting ready to go up!  One of the girls from children's church was telling me that she actually got to help fill one up!  Very cool.

Of course we had to go back home to take a nap after an early morning.  I slept for 3 hours and James for 4.5.  Lovely!  Then we jetted back to where we were for the balloon races to "Back the Pack."  We got season tickets this year for UNR, which includes all home games for football, baseball, soccer, softball, etc.  Basically all sports but the ones that the Wolf Pack is any good at :)  It's been really fun though.  Apparently James is rubbing off on me.........
